WEST Somerset Advice Bureau will feature in two initiatives this September which it hopes will raise public awareness of the work it does for the community.

From Monday, it will be running a loan shark week in association with Mendip Citizen’s Advice Bureau to make people aware of how loan sharks operate.

A team will be out and about throughout the week, and on Friday (September 18), they will have a stall outside the Red Cross shop in The Avenue, Minehead, from 10am.

To make sure you do not miss them, one of the bureau volunteers will be dressed up as a large shark - but this one won’t bite!

On September 24 and 25, Minehead Dramatic Society will be staging a concert at the Regal Theatre in aid of the bureau.

Called Songs from the Heart, it will feature songs, words and images from a mixture of popular musicals and pop songs from the late 20th century featuring local performers.

The songs will come under a number of themes which reflect the work of the Advice Bureau.

“We are extremely grateful for the support that the Minehead Dramatic Society are giving us,” said Dave Williams, chairman of the bureau’s trustee board.

“Our bond with the West Somerset community can only be strengthened by this initiative on their part.”

Tickets are available from the Regal Box Office.
