Head teacher Chris Blazey and a group of parents and friends went on a 26-mile bike ride on Sunday, May 15, to raise funds for St Dubricius School, Porlock.

The ride was off-road and the route involved achieving an elevation of over 4,000 feet as well as conquering three landmark beacons – Dunkery, Periton Hill and Selworthy.

The route, devised by parent Tony Macriner and Tim Grant, of Pompy’s Cycles, covered a range of forest tracks, rocky and rutted paths.

The group also overcame a series of mechanical failures but were fortunate in having ride support provided by Angela Newbold.
