CROSS Farm Park play area in Alcombe has undergone a major £66,000 revamp thanks to residents' own efforts plus a huge boost from the Big Lottery.

Funding worth £50,794 came from the Big Lottery thanks to West Somerset Council, which worked in partnership with Minehead Town Council.

And Cross Farm Park residents donated £15,242 and the children helped design the features of the makeover.

It includes basket swing, multi-climbing frame unit, zip-wire and a roundabout.  

The plans have been a year in the making and execution. 

Now the play area is finished, residents got together to celebrate its official opening by Mayor of Minehead Cllr Ron Brindle and West Somerset Council chairman Cllr Eddie yesterday on Tuesday, November 30.
