PUPILS of St Dubricius Primary School, Porlock, took part in an Armistice Day service to remember the crew of an American aircraft who died in a World War Two crash.

The annual tribute saw 25 children walk the half-mile to a memorial on Porlock Marsh.

The 12 crew died when their Liberator reconnaissance bomber crashed in 1942.

Porlock curate the Rev Alison Tolson read out the names of the 12 American airmen who died when their Liberator aircraft crashed on Porlock Marsh in 1942.

Porlock Rector the Rev Ann Gibbs led the children in a simple but moving ceremony, with parish curate the Rev Alison Tilson reading out the names of each of the airmen.

Families of the Americans sent flowers for the ceremony and thanked villagers for maintaining the monument in honour of their loved ones.

The children, aged from seven to nine years, also laid their own Remembrance wreath and individual roses.
