VOLUNTEERS are needed to help a school community group in Watchet keep working after many of its members step down this summer.
The Knights Templar School Community Group (KTSCA) is a key supporter of the school’s swimming pool, helping fund-raise for many activities.
A spokesperson said: “KTSCA are an essential part of Knights Templar, providing educational enrichment and resources through our fund-raising.
“Volunteers choose how much of their time they can give and most of the organising is now done via WhatsApp to make it easier for busy families.
“It is a small team but we always have fun.
“If we do not have people come forward, there is the possibility the KTSCA will shut down or reduce fund-raising to one event a year, which will impact the children.”
Anybody who wants to join the group is asked to contact it via its Facebook group or to email the chairman Gemma Parsons at [email protected].
The group’s major fund-raising effort has been to help maintain the school’s swimming pool, which has been available for use all year round for more than 30 years, and can be financially supported online.
The spokesperson said: “The money raised from memberships and bookings contribute to sustaining this fantastic resource.
“Our mission is to operate a self-sustaining swimming pool that serves as a beacon of water safety and well-being in our coastal community.
“We are dedicated to providing affordable and high-quality swimming facilities that empower children with essential swimming skills, fostering confidence and competence in the water.
“Through comprehensive programmes and a supportive environment, we prioritise water safety education and promote a healthier lifestyle.
“By operating efficiently and responsibly, we ensure the sustainability of our pool, making it accessible to all members of our community.
“Together, we create a safe, enjoyable, and self-sustaining swimming facility that benefits individuals and strengthens our community.”
