STAFF and volunteers in Minehead’s Friday Street Furniture Store are organising a draw ‘with some great prizes’ as part of a fund-raising drive to support St Margaret’s Hospice.
The hospice is 45 years old this year and the furniture store wants to raise £1,450 for the charity from 45 prizes.
The shop has been delighted with the way local businesses have stepped forward to offer a variety of prizes for the competition.
It is also offering to double any cash donations from businesses and local people made during a special 36-hour fund-raising window starting on Thursday (June 19).
A spokesperson said: “With a reputation for compassion and care in the town, it is not surprising that local businesses have been quick to offer a range of great prizes, including a family day pass to Butlin’s, a large Charlie Bear, a Cosy Bean hamper, and gift vouchers from Greggs, Wetherspoons, and the Kind Kitchen, among others.

“The team in the shop wants to thank all the donors for their kindness and support so far.”
The team is hoping customers and supporters will purchase at least one of the £1 tickets which are now available from the shop.
The draw will be made on July 1 and the winners will be notified on the same day.
The spokesperson said: “In total, the shop staff aim to collect 45 raffle prizes, and there is still time for businesses to donate theirs to the Friday Street store.
“As a token of appreciation, the company’s logo will be displayed on the shop window for all to see.”

The hospice supported nearly 5,000 people across Somerset last year, most of them in their own homes, with care from one of its five community nursing teams.
