Backtracking on business rates rises not enough to help West Somerset pubs says MPThis year’s theme is ‘Torn From Home’, and it will not only be remembering the millions murdered during the Holocaust under Nazi persecution but also the victims of genocides that followed in Cambodia, Rwanda, Bosnia and Darfur.
The event recognises the impact of the enforced loss of a safe place once called home, and the difficulty survivors face trying to build new homes.
Today’s refugee crisis highlights the fact that desperate millions are still seeking a safe place to call home.
Minehead Amnesty will be holding its remembrance event between noon and 2pm on Thursday, January 24, at the Quaker Meeting House in Bancks Street.
People are invited to call in, have a hot drink and some cake, light a candle, and write a message on a postcard to someone affected still by the Holocaust or genocide.
