DUNSTER Horticultural Society held its annual flower show in the village’s Tithe Barn on Saturday August 6, and the inclusion of allotment holders meant entries were up on last year.
The barn was full of displays of fruit, vegetables and flowers all grown in Dunster, supported by homecrafts from some talented chefs, floral decorations, arts, crafts, photography, wines, liqueurs and ciders, and a colourful spread of children’s art.
Chairman Ruth Webber thanked the committee and all the village volunteers for helping to put on the show, and president Beryl Priddle presented the trophies, with Dunster Parish Council chairman Barbara Bryan presenting thoses for the best allotments.
The President’s Choice Trophy was presented to Bill Hatt for his entry of a handmade card for the Queen’s 90th Birthday.
Bill served as a guardsman in the Queen’s Company Grenadier Guards, and the committee will be sending the card off to Buckingham Palace.
After the presentations there was a raffle and sale of produce.
