HUNDREDS of people flocked to an open day in the village of Allerford to view blacksmiths at work and sample tasty delights in the village hall and at local eating places.

And they were also able to visit Allerford Rural Life Museum where hundreds of themed artefacts about rural life were on display alongside a photographic archive and Victorian schoolroom.

“We must have had several hundred people through - it was a very good day," said Pauline Hall, a volunteer and committee member.
