CHARTERED surveyor Kevin Bateman and some of his friends are taking on a Welsh mountain challenge to raise funds for two charities.

Mr Bateman, managing director of Williton firm Bateman Hosegood, will lead the group as they tackle the Snowdonia Way.

The 97-mile long-distance trail runs the entire length of Snowdonia National Park and takes about four days to complete.

The friends are fund-raising for the Brain Tumour Charity and Devon Air Ambulance and have already seen donations via their JustGiving online page reach more than double their £1,000 target.

The air ambulance charity operates two helicopters and four critical care cars which help to cover Exmoor and other pats of West Somerset, while the Brain Tumour Charity is a world-leading funder of research into brain tumours.
