IT was a postbox with a difference for the village of Wootton Courtenay when a new cardboard replica had pride of place at a celebration evening that raised £1,000 for charity.
Local residents were “all a bit sore” after their village postbox of over four decades was prised out of a wall, and taken away as an emergency by Royal Mail, without any warning.
So the locals used the Burns Night celebrations held in the village hall last Friday to present a splendid new cardboard box to householder Craig Thomson, from whose wall the original had been taken.
