THE pantomime Treasure Island, packed with adventure, mystery and all the traditional silliness, comes to Porlock next week.

Set locally, the script by Chris de Vere Hunt tells the tale of Jim Perkins (Tasha Smith), barman at the Admiral Dimbo, an inn run by his vivacious mother Polly.

When a guest at the inn turns out to be harbouring a treasure map, Jim and Polly waste little time before setting off in search of the loot.

They enlist the help of Squire Trelooney (Patrick Daley), his daughter and the local doctor and head for Watchet to hire a schooner - chased by the pirates, who want their map back,

But little do they know that also on their trail are the Porlock Coastguard who are hot on the heels of the pirates in the name of Her Majesty!

Once on board - and in treacherous seas - all becomes clear and now it is a race to be first to get to the treasure.

Was it four paces West or ten paces North? Does X mark the spot? Who has got the map - and is Long John (John Kemp) the friend he at first appeared?

The chest-full of songs, jokes, romance and frivolity will be opened in Porlock Village Hall at 7.30pm every night from Thursday to Saturday (February 7, 8 and 9) and for a 2.30pm matinée on Saturday.

Tickets cost £6.50 for adults, £4.50 children with, for the matinée only, a family ticket at £15 for two adults and two children.

Tickets for Porlock Pantomime and Drama Society's show are on sale at Porlock Visitor Centre and at http://www.wegottickets.com/porlockpanto">www.wegottickets.com/porlockpanto.
