YOUNGSTERS were given a taste of classroom life at a special play day at Knights Templar First School in Watchet.
Parents and grandparents of children due to start school in September were invited in to meet the staff and try out a range of activities.
Helen Robinson, teacher at Little Vikings children's centre, which is on the school campus, said: "The children and adults had a brilliant time exploring a range of activities both inside and outside, which promoted learning through play.
"The children confidently led the adults around the different environments, engaging them in the activities that interested them."
Mrs Robinson said the atmosphere had been buzzing as families moved between the areas, which offered water and sand play, play dough, 'dark dens', mini Olympics, cooking, musical instruments and books.
"It was a super opportunity for the families to meet Knights Templar staff and enjoy the activities on offer," she said.
Mrs Robinson said she wanted to thank all the families who attended, the volunteer helpers and the staff for making the event such a success.
