Nine fire crews mobilised as part-thatched Dulverton house catches alightSeveral members of the public called 999 to report the potentially dangerous incident and a fire engine was sent from Taunton at 11.50pm.
On arrival, the crew found the car was well alight and, wearing breathing apparatus, set to work extinguishing it with two hose reel jets.
Both police and Western Power were requested to attend because of the hazardous position of the fire and as it was confirmed to have been started deliberately.
The matter was left with the police and vehicle owner. The car was 70 per cent destroyed.
