Nine fire crews mobilised as part-thatched Dulverton house catches alightDevon and Somerset Fire Service’s specialist rescue team was first on the scene and was able to release the woman, who had been discovered in the mud by a local farmer. She was reported to be uninjured in the incident last Thursday morning.
A Watchet Coastguard spokesman said: “We were tasked to continue to the scene with mud rescue equipment and to assist with any potential stretcher evacuation, but were not required.
“We remind anyone visiting the coast not to venture into mud or soft sand, and in the event of a coastal emergency to dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
