But the crew from Williton put out the fire within six minutes and the Minehead contingent returned to base.
Williton crew arrived just after 10pm on Friday and at 10.06pm the small fire, which started accidentally, had been extinguished using a hose reel jet.
After removing wooden cladding on the porch and checking for hotspots using a thermal imaging camera, they confirmed the incident was under control at 10:35pm. The fire was prevented from spreading and damage was confined to the porch.
