FIRE spread from some sheds to a house extension in Bossington Road, Selworthy, this morning causing extensive damage

Crew members forced entry to the property to ensure that no-one was in danger, and all were accounted for.

A local resident alerted the emergency services at 7.12am after spotting what was then believed to be a fire in a hedge.

A fire engine from Porlock was first on the scene and, having found a property was involved, called for back-up and more pumps. Two fire engines and an officer went from Minehead.

The fire had spread from the two sheds – which were completely destroyed – to the roof of the ground floor extension.

Four breathing apparatus were worn and two hose reel jets, a triple extension ladder, roof ladder and a thermal imaging camera were used to extinguish the blaze. Some 30 per cent fire damage was caused to the house extension.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
