WELLINGTON'S last match of the season ended in a 1-0 home defeat by Ilfracombe Town in the Premier Division of the Toolstation League last night (Thurs).

It was Wellington's third game in six days and they lost out at the Playing Field to a 47th minute goal by Charlie Prentice who scored with a powerful header from a corner.

Wellington responded quickly with Ilfracombe goalkeeper Jimmy Thorne saving efforts from Jake Quick and Ryan Brereton.

Wellington then made a double change, bringing on Alfie Clarke and Kelson Pollard but they could not find a way to break down Ilfracombe's defence.

In fact, Wellington goalkeeper Shay Allen saved well to deny Tyler Evans-Loude and Zeph Collins made a brilliant block on the far post to thwart Jack Jenkins.

Although there are still games to be played in the division, Wellington will finish 15th in the table.
