DESPITE not playing for more than a month, Wiveliscombe are still top of Counties One Western West.

They have a five-point lead over second-placed Paignton - and also have a crucial game in hand over their title rivals.

Wiveliscombe have won 11 of their 12 matches and also have the best points difference in the division.

Kingsbridge are in third spot, 13 points adrift of Wiveliscombe and having played the same number of matches.

Penryn are bottom, having won only two of their 12 games while Saltash are one place above them with two more points.

Only one fixture in Counties One Western West managed to survive the atrocious weather on Saturday, February 7, with Barnstaple Seconds gaining a 27-12 home win over Newton Abbot. It enabled Barnstaple to go above Newton Abbot into seventh place.

Meanwhile, Wiveliscombe lst XV will be hoping to get back into action on Saturday, February 14 - they have not played since they beat Truro 23-5 at home on Saturday, January 10 - when they are due to play away to St Ives (SW) who are lying fifth in the table with seven wins from 12 outings. Paignton play away to Saltash while Kingsbridge are away to Newton Abbot.

Wiveliscombe 2nd XV, who are lying ninth in Counties Three Somerset South, find themselves without a match on Saturday, February 14. However Wellington Seconds, who are bottom of the table, have a tough away game against Weston super Mare who are in third place.

Tor top the table with 63 points from 14 games, while second-placed Wells are 11 points behind with three fixtures in hand.
