MINEHEAD Barbarians RFC Under 11s played host to Bridgwater and Albion who, unfortunately, had only brought seven players with them.

So once again, in the true spirit of the game, it was decided to lend them some players to make even sided teams , and to the young Minehead Barbarians credit there were lots of volunteers who came forward.

After the heavy rain and the conditions wet and slippery and playing with a wet rugby ball it was going to be tough for both sides. The visitors started well with some very strong rucking which caught Minehead off guard and scored the first try followed by a second.

Despite being two tries down Minehead once again showed great resolve and proceeded to put some good passages of play together and with support and good handling they were able to score four quality tries, which meant that at the half time break the Barbarians led 4-2.

The second half proved much the same with both sides putting in strong tackling and rucking, with Bridgwater managing to score two further tries to level the scores.

Minehead then started to put some of their trademark play together, with strong rucking, all of them putting in some strong tackling and supporting each other, which along with their communication saw them score three more quality well deserved tries.

When the whistle went at the end of a hard fought game the final score was Minehead Barbarians Under 11s 7, Bridgwater 4.

The way that the Minehead players when playing for Bridgwater played as hard as they would for Minehead is testament to their sportsmanship and true spirit of the game. Well done to everyone.
