KILVE remain top of the first division in the West Somerset Cricket League after gaining a 13-run home victory over former leaders Morebath last weekend.

Kilve were not at their best when batting first, with only Rio Rock (51) managing to get to grips with the Morebath bowlers. The division's leaders scored only 121 in their 40 overs with one wicket still standing. Needing a comparatively small score to win, Morebath fell agonisingly short, being bowled out for 108 in 35.2 overs. Carl Hopper was their top scorer with 20, while Josh Calder snapped up 5-33 and Jay Jarrell and Carl Clemenson two wickets each.

Bagborough stay in second place despite losing by four wickets at Bridgetown who were steered to victory by Dan Sizer who was 46 not out, while Holford won by four wickets against Lydeard St Lawrence. Unfortunately, Winsford's home match against Brompton Ralph was rained off.

Ashbrittle maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of Division Two after winning by 85 runs at home to East Huntspill who were bowled out for 125 with Wilf Burns-Cox taking 3-14 and Oliver White 3-13. Wilfred Embleton (28) and run-machine Andy Hill (63) were involved in an opening stand of 102 while Chris Hill hit 34 in the leaders' 210-8.

Huish Champflower strolled to an eight-wicket victory over Wiveliscombe's second string, bowling out the visitors for 98 with Oliver Buckingham finishing with figures of 5-9. Michael Kidner (28), Nathan Hill (32) and Tobi Jones (30) put Huish in sight of victory.

Churchinford crept over the line at Stoodleigh, winning a low scoring encounter by six runs. The home side made 130-9 with Harvey Wilder unbeaten on 43, while the visitors' top run-getters were James Troy-Brown (27) and Will Read (23).

Watchet made it seven wins from seven games afer beating Cannington by three wickets at home in Division Three. Cannington scored 161-8 with Daryl Lush knocking 49 while James Weetch was the seasiders' batting star with 74. Callum Knight was 31 not out.

Sampford Arundel's fixture at Hemyock in Division Four was cancelled because of rain but they still have a comfortable lead at the top of the table. Ashbrittle's second string made it a good day for the club, winning by five wickets at East Huntspill. Nigel Alway (13) was the only player with the home side to get into double figures, while Shaun Ridgeway and T Burns-Cox both scored 17 for the visiters, with the latter not out. Earlier Charles Cooper and Jonty Millington claimed three wickets for the Ashes.
