MINEHEAD Barbarians RFC Under 9s played host to South Molton on Sunday and the first game was hard fought, both sides playing some exciting rugby, but in the end the Barbarians won by one try .

The second game was played to the same high standard but the visitors managed to break Minehead's defence which had been strong all season to score some exciting tries.

Minehead once again showed their team work, playing several phases of driving forward making good ground then passing the ball through their hands to score some brilliant tries. This game finished in a draw with both sides playing in great spirit.

Coach Graham Symes said: “Minehead Barbarians Under 9s have finished the season unbeaten, which just proves that their teamwork, never moaning or criticising each other but being supportive, has made them an honour and privilege to coach.”

The Under 7s were also in action on Sunday after which their coach Martin Cook said: “The players showed great aggression on the field, displaying a positive level of physicality suitable for their age group.

“Their speed, agility, and impressive side steps were evident throughout the game and teamwork was solid at times. Their tenacious spirit and determination were evident, contributing to a competitive and spirited performance. “
