WEATHER permitting, Minehead will be chasing their fourth successive win when they play away to Trull in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League this afternoon (Sat).

The seasiders have bounced back to form with victories over Frome, leaders Long Sutton and Taunton Deane in the past three weeks.

Having dropped off the pace last month, they are back up into second spot in the table, only 16 points behind Long Sutton. With a total of 35 points at stake every game, the gap is minimal and could be wiped out over one weekend.

While Minehead play eight-placed Trull in Taunton, Long Sutton are away to Shapwick & Polden who are lying ninth.

With eight matches remaining to the end of the season, the championship race is now down to four teams - Long Sutton, Minehead, Temple Cloud and Winscombe.

Meanwhile Minehead 2nd XI, who drew away to Yeovil in the third division last weekend, play at home to their Chard counterparts. Minehead are currently third in the table while the South Somerset outfit are down in eighth spot.

Wiveliscombe, second in Division Three but 60 points adrift of leaders Yeovil, play at North Perrott who are just below them in the table.

Minehead 3rd XI, who play in the fourth division of the West Somerset League, entertain Hemyock with only two points separating the mid-table sides.

Kilve, who have a 36-point lead at the top of Division One in the WS League, have no game tomorrow which means second-placed Bagborough have a chance to narrow the gap in their home clash with Holford who are only five points behind them.

In the second division, Ashbrittle's 100 per cent record will be at stake when they play away to Crowcombe, who are down in sixth place. Huish Champflower, in second spot, play away to Churchinford who are one place below them.

Watchet, who have yet to lose a game in Division Three, are away to Carhampton in a top of the table clash.

There is plenty of action in the Taunton & District Youth League this weekend.
