MINEHEAD Hockey Club’s Men’s Second XI travelled to Tiverton for their postponed fixture from before Christmas.
With good availability and a squad of 13, confidence was high, and the mix of youth and experience proved fruitful as they took the lead after ten minutes.
Despite Tiverton’s efforts they were unable to find an equalizer as the Minehead defence kept everything out, including Glenmore Bakery Man of the Match goalkeeper Lee Fairbrother saving a penalty flick to keep Minehead in the lead at the break.
The second half repeated, with a quick Minehead goal, but with the hosts now struggling some inexplicable home umpiring decisions saw a green card for the visitors and the flow of the game turned to the home team’s advantage as they scored three quick goals.
Despite this adversity Minehead managed to slot an equaliser in the final minutes to snatch a 3-3 draw.
This weekend see the Men’s League restart in earnest with the First XI hosting Chard, the seconds make the trip to Chard, and the Thirds are at Bridgwater 4s.
