MINEHEAD'S hopes of picking up a home win against bottom side Lympsham & Belvedere in the Premier Division of the Somerset Cricket League yesterday (Sat) were dashed by the weather.

Minehead, put into bat, had scored 50-3 when the game was abandoned, the home side eventually receiving 14 points and the visitors 15.

Minehead's innings lasted for 10.2 overs with skipper and all-rounder Ian Buchanan scoring 28 off 22 balls, with seven fours. Dan Bowditch (10) and Archie Marsh (5) were at the wicket when stumps were drawn.

Minehead, however, picked up enough points to stay third in the table and they are only three points behind second-placed Bridgwater 3rd XI.

Minehead 2nd XI's game away to St Andrews in Division Three also ended abruptly with the visitors on 84-2. Andrew Stevens was 39 not out and Luke Taylor made 23.
