MARIKA Mossman, of Williton, has completed the ‘Ironman Wales’ event at Tenby, one of the toughest races in the world.

“Standing on North Beach with 2,400 athletes, I honestly didn’t know if I was going to make it. Ironman Wales is infamous for how brutal it can be – a 2.4-mile sea swim, 112 hilly miles on the bike and a marathon to finish,” said Marika afterwards.

“Out of all those athletes, only 166 women crossed the line and I am beyond proud to say I was one of them .From a choppy swim to punishing hills, racing in Tenby pushed me harder than anything I’ve done, but the atmosphere carried me.

“Children holding ‘girl power’ signs, endless cheers, and the excitement of the crowds turned struggle into a reminder of why I started – the importance of representation and what people can achieve with the belief of others. Crossing that finish line was indescribable. Relief, pride, disbelief, maybe some tears.

“It wasn’t just about finishing a race; it was all the hours I’ve poured into training while running a business, balancing life and overcoming my own adversity, plus the people who supported me through it all. The early mornings, late nights and sacrifices all lead me there. “

Marika added: “That feeling is exactly what I try to share as owner and coach at Fortitude WS Gym in Williton. Fortitude isn’t just a gym – it’s a place built on community, resilience, and the belief that ‘your only limit is you.’ Whether it’s walking through the doors, lifting weights or overcoming life’s challenges, every win matters and everyone supports each other.Ironman taught me that even when you doubt yourself, you’re more capable than you think. If my journey inspires even one person to step outside their comfort zone and believe in themselves, then every mile was worth it.
