JUNE IS a quiet month for the horses at Higher Holworthy Farm, but we’re busy on the farm. It’s when we shear the sheep and make the hay.

Jeremy and Camilla travelled to Ireland for the Tattersalls Derby Sale and purchased a lovely Soldier Of Fortune three year old gelding out of a black type mare. He is now at Ben Jones’ to be broken in before he heads out on his summer holiday.

Our three homebreds have been expertly broken in by Rebecca and Ben and are already on their holidays. We have only had a few runners through June. Fair Dinkum ran very well at Bath to finish third, Bye Bye Salam ran another creditable race and is now on holiday before going hurdling.

The horses have been enjoying their holidays out in the field, covering themselves in mud when it rains (when it rains!) and sunbathing when the sun shines! They are slowly returning to work over the next few weeks and starting their road work around our country lanes.

We are opening the yard up for an afternoon as part of National Racehorse Week on Friday 29th August 1.45pm -3.45pm.There will be some delicious cream teas available to purchase as well as an opportunity to have a wander around the yards to meet our excellent team of staff and get up close with your favourite horses.

Leah is back to do an demonstration on Equine Dentistry, our foals will be happy to meet everyone and probably a physio demonstration. Please book in through National Racehorse Week so we keep track of numbers and we cannot wait to meet you all.

We are heading to the sales over the next couple of months so please get in touch if you are interested in purchasing anything in particular.
