IT HAS been a busy couple of months for Team Scott with the horses steadily increasing their workloads from cantering to the faster work!

The yard welcomed almost 300 people to the Open Afternoon in August, raising £700 for The Injured Jockey Fund with a draw and the sale of our Horses In Training Books.

Visitors were able to have a look at The Champion Hurdle Trophy, a demonstration by equine dentist Leah and see the stars of the yard, including Champion Hurdler Golden Ace. They were also able to say thank you to superstar Dashel Drasher who has retired.

You often plan out a race for a horse, but they often go awry and rarely does it all come together. But it did at Bath with Fair Dinkum. He had to put a couple of disappointing runs behind him and take on some very soft ground. However he was given a brilliant ride by Kieran O’Neill in the pouring rain and won the Stayers Final at Bath Fair. Dinkum’s triumph was worth over £18,000 to the winner and a brilliant result for his owners Philip Moore and Derek Coles. Not bad for a horse purchased for £13,000!

Carly Rumsey has worked for us for the past 12 months has secured a place in the Keagan Kirkby Charity Race at Wincanton on Sunday 26th October, riding Fair Dinkum, in aid of Horatio’s Garden.

Keagan Kirkby was a member of Team Scott between 2016 and 2019 before heading onto work for Will Biddick and Paul Nicholls. He tragically died Point to Pointing last year.

Jeremy and Camilla bought a couple of store horses in Ireland and we have a few up and ready to run this season, so if anyone is interested get in touch - [email protected] or call - 01398 371414.
