WE JUST had the three runners in the last week; no winners but they all ran well enough. Affection finished sixth on the flat at Kempton, beaten less than four lengths with not the clearest of runs inside the final couple of furlongs.

Final Entry travelled to Newton Abbot on Thursday but we didn’t run him as the ground was plenty quick enough while Martin’s Denuo made a pleasing debut at Fontwell on Friday.

Best Night also ran well on her first start since a wind operation. Held up off the pace, she had a bit of interference rounding the home bend but she galloped all the way to the line and this run will have given her confidence going forwards.

This week we had two runners up at Cartmel on Monday afternoon, Grand Clermont and Karnaval Point. It is fairly quiet then the rest of the week, with our next entries coming on Friday at Bangor and Worcester. It is just further entries for Grand Clermont and Karnaval Point and Bangor so we will just see how they get on at Cartmel first.

Harry could make his second start in Britain back at Worcester and will appreciate any rain that falls. Final Entry could run in the 2m7f handicap hurdle on the card but keep checking the Daily News on the website for all the latest on the stable runners.

Saturday, September 19, we are hosting our annual David Pipe Racing Club stable visit. Attendance is by invitation but we do have a limited number of spaces for the general public to visit as well. If you are interested get in touch for more details.

Below details of some more of the horses who will be running for Pond House this season: GOLD IN THE RIVERS -Started last season with a couple of good efforts over fences but got his first win following wind surgery and a return to the smaller obstacles at Market Rasen. A lovely big old fashioned chasing type he looks better handicapped to start this winter than previously.

GOODBYE EARL - A new recruit this summer; a lovely big four-year old who won his second start in an Irish point at Old Castle in March. He is well related and seems to have a great attitude and is likely to start in a bumper before going hurdling.

GRAND CLERMONT - A pocket rocket who has been a great addition to the team this summer. He was already an eight-time winner in France and added a further two wins since joining the yard.

GRANDORRADO - A giant of a horse – one of the biggest we have at Pond House; he finished runner up and then won an Irish point at Ballycahane in March. Will need plenty of rain before he will be seen on the racecourse.

HARRY - A winner of five races on the flat and three over hurdles. He was born and raced in Sweden and joined us via France. Made a pleasing stable debut to be fourth at Worcester.

HARRY JUNIOR - Closely related to a very good horse, Harry Senior and bought as a store, he has taken a long time to mature. A handsome big individual he won two hurdle races last season when upped in trip and likely to come into his own when tackling the larger obstacles.
