IT HAS been another good week for the yard with two winners from seven runners - and four placings as well.

Our new French recruits have been flying the flag for us in recent weeks and Karnaval Point won for the second time in three starts at Uttoxeter last week. I have to say he is not the easiest of horses to watch but he has formed a good partnership with Rian Corcoran and he won quite cosily in the end.

Similar comments apply to fellow French recruit Grand Clermont who won for the second time at Perth on Sunday. This was our ten-year-old’s tenth career success and what a star he has been. He loves his racing and is a happy horse with a great attitude.

We have made an entry for him in the feature Summer Plate at Market Rasen on Saturday but we will just see how he is in the coming days before deciding if he runs or not.

Well done to Rian Corcoran who rode a double at Perth on his first visit to the track. He rode a winner for Gordon Elliott on his first ride for him. That one did not look an easy conveyance but he rode him well and continued his great summer. He has ridden 11 winners from 39 runners, eight of which have been for Pond House at a 28% strike rate and is sitting seventh in the jockeys’ table.

Ras Kassar made his stable debut up at Perth and ran well enough to be fourth. He is a multiple winner in France also and while he found the trip sharp enough on this occasion it was a pleasing effort and he can be winning races going forwards.

Mancero also ran well at Worcester last week to be second. He bounced back from a below par effort at Market Rasen previously and we may try him over further next time.

Bashful Boy finished third over hurdles on what was his first start in this sphere for a long time and on this evidence he can win a similar contest going forwards.

We start the new week with the one runner at Newton Abbot on Monday afternoon, Savanna Storm. We have declared him again for Uttoxeter on Wednesday but this is purely a backup in case the ground is not to our liking at Newton Abbot.

On Thursday, we have entries at Worcester where October Hill could have her first start back since being brought down at the track when in contention last month. Bashful Boy and Ocean Heights also have entries so keep checking the Daily News on the website for all the latest news on the stable runners.

At the weekend, we have entries at Market Rasen on Saturday and a little closer to home at Newton Abbot. Affection could make her second start over hurdles at the track while Final Entry has an entry over the course and distance he won over last time although he could go to Worcester on Thursday where he also has an entry.

The horses are now back from their summer holidays and we have been riding the majority from the field for about ten 10 days but they are now back in to do their walking and trotting road work before back cantering.
