EAMON Leigh was the runaway winner, scoring a superb nett 61, which was five shots clear of the field in the Saturday Medal Competition at Oake Manor Golf Club.

Eamon was also the winner of division 1 with Simon Greaves in second place with a nett 66 and James Greenhow third with a nett 67. Tony Fulker won division 2 with nett 66 while Paul Rich came second, also with nett 66, and Carl Puzey was third with nett 70.

Greg Scribbins won the Sunday Stableford Competition at Oake with 40 points with James Wilkinson in second place, also with 40 points, while Michael Tourle was third on 39 points.

On Tuesday the Seniors and Ladies played a Mixed Greensomes Pairs Competition for the Jubilee Trophy. Nigel Foster and Sally Jackson won the trophy with 42 points, finishing narrowly ahead of Mike Amos and Judy McKellar who also had 42 points with David Wheeler and Daphne Priddy in third place with 40 points.

Mathew Durbin won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition with an excellent score of 43 points while Jasper Kavanagh came second with 42 points and Richard Barker was third with 40 points.

Ladies Captain Mary Beakes held her Captains’ Away Day on Thursday at The Westcountry Golf Academy which is near Tiverton. Twenty-six ladies braved the very hot and humid conditions to enjoy a lovely day out and were looked after well by WGA.

The winner of the Barbara Cousins Away Day Trophy was Patricia Campbell with a superb score of 47 points.

The previous week Steve Manlow won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford Competition with 42 points, with Liam Willey in second place with 39 points while George Wagstaff was in third place, also with 39 points.
