MINEHEAD & West Somerset Men’s first team entertained local rivals Bridgwater, looking to register their first points of the season - but went down 6-1.

A well drilled Bridgwater side kept play largely in the Minehead half. The first 35 minutes felt fairly evenly-balanced, though two quick goals before half time meant the hosts trailed at the break.

The second half saw four more goals for Bridgwater, while Minehead tallied up their first of the season through Will Shean.

The 2’s travelled to Bristol to face a strong Bristol & West 3’s, and despite having 14 players, boosted by the 3’s match cancellation, the Seasiders never really troubled the B&W defence, going down 7-0, despite the best efforts of Nev Weir and stand-in skipper Ben Druitt.

The hosts spent the majority of the match in Minehead’s half with Ryan Jones, Luke Orpin, Lee Fairbrother and Man of the match Tisshaw doing their best to repel the constant attacks

Minehead & West Somerset Ladies hosted Bridgwater 1s and the visitors made a dominant start, applying early pressure. Against the run of play, a weaving run from Sparks led to a desperate attempt from the Bridgwater goalie resulting in a penalty flick. A reaching save from Bridgwater kept the score at 0-0.

A cross from Thompson to Tisshaw resulted in a multitude of rebounds which Cape buried into the back of the goal, Minehead 1-0 up. Two mins later a penalty corner and a strike from Cape and Minehead were 2-0 up.

A few darting runs from Bridgwater resulted in a goal from open play to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half started with some end to end play, with runs from Player of the Match Molly Rucklidge, Chilcott, and Tisshaw resulting in tight penalty corners but to no avail. Some back and forth hockey resulted in Bridgwater levelling at 2-2.
