Minehead’s A team in the Avalon League played Taunton and Pickeridge Stags last Saturday in a top of the table clash andf although they lost 31/2- 11/2 they picked up 41/2 points towards their quest for promotion.

The winning pair were Dave Hillier and debutant Dom Bowden, while Mike Nicholls and Dave Oatridge gained a half.

Losing pairs were club champion Tim Dennis and Steve Gay, thumped 8 and 7, Dave Farmer and Adam Dover and Ollie Smith and Owen Thresher.

With just two games remaining, Minehead now need good results away to Stockwood Vale and Worlebury.
