MINEHEAD and West Somerset Golf Club Seniors started the week on Monday with a Bowmaker competition and with the course in excellent condition and the weather set fair, scores were expected to be good.

That certainly was the case with the winning team of Mark Watson, Edward Frewin and Mike O’Keefe notching up a total of 76 points to take first place.

In second place with 71 points were Mark Ruttley, Bob Arthington and Peter Chapple while David Atcherley-Symes, Tim Evans and Nigel Trevelyan came third with 67 points.

The Seniors week ended on Friday with the Metcalfe Cup and the Greensomes format coupled with the fine weather once again produced a large entry.

The winning pair were Graham Troman and Brendan Cleere with an excellent nett 65, particularly as it was the first time they had played together. In second place with nett 66 were Steve Gay and Neville Parsons while Martin Hole and Roger Read (nett 66) were third.
