MAX Popham was the clear winner with a superb score of +6, match play score against the course in the Saturday Bogey Competition which was staged at Oake Manor Golf Club. Andy Cooper came second with +3 while Paul Hadley Jnr was in third spot, also on +3. Dominic Stapleton scored 38 points to win the Sunday Stableford Competition at Oake, with Simon Greaves coming second with 37 points and Michael Bright was third with 36 points. In the Ladies Sunday Stableford Competition Suzanne Ward continued her winning form with a top score of 34 points with Ladies Club champion Jane Clist in second place with 26 points while Jill Loader was third, also with 26 points. Suzanne Ward was again victorious in the Ladies Stableford Competition on Tuesday. Suzanne had the best score of the day with 32 points to win division 1, Jenny Musgrove came second with 31 points while Alison Harman was third with 31 points.
The wetter conditions over the past few days seem to have affected the higher handicaps in division 2, with the winner Catherine Drysdale scoring 28 points, and Patricia Fraser coming second with 27 points while Ladies Captain Daphne Priddy was third with 25 points. The Ladies played the Seniors in their annual challenge match for the Winter Ball Trophy. The format was 4 ball better ball pairs ladies verses gents. All the matches were very close, many finishing on the 18th green but the gents scrapped a narrow victory, winning by four games to the ladies three.
In the recent Wednesday Midweek Stableford nine hole competition, the first seven players all scored 18 points. But on count back, Oliver Nott was first, Richard Beesley came second and Terry Davies was third.
