OAKE Manor Golf Club 2026 captains have held their “Drive In”. New club captain Jon Ball, ladies captain Mary Beakes, seniors captain Nick Mitchell and junior captain Max Snow all teed off to officially start their year as captains.
The fairway was littered with yellow flags, purchased by members and placed to indicate where they thought the captains drives would finish. Chris Hume was closest to where Jon’s drive finished and Jane Clist was closest to Mary’s drive.
A total of 180 golfers took part in the Drive In - a two ball Texas Scramble with a morning and afternoon shot gun start. There were some great scores, both am and pm, but the winners of the Trophy were Rob Parker and Will Parkman with a superb nett 61, Chris Flack and Dave Hill came second with nett 62 while Vic Burgos and Darren Cornwall were third, also with nett 62.
A huge thank-you goes to everyone who supported the day, with the yellow flags, raffle and entry fees £1,810 was raised for the Captains Charity, The Alfie Nick Foundation.
Matthew Bright won the Sunday Stableford, scoring 39 points, in second place was David Wheeler, also with 39 points, while Robin Trott was third with 37 points.
Claire Tough won the Ladies Sunday Stableford with 31 points, Kathryn Salway was second with 29 points while Tamsin St George was third, also with 29 points.
David John Matthews won the John Robbins Trophy in the Seniors Monday Stableford. David scored 39 points to win division 1, Philip Marsh was second with 37 points and John Phripp was third with 36 points.
Malcom Musgrove won division 2 with 42 points the best score of the day but he was ineligible to win the trophy. Leslie Hamp came second with 39 points and Bernard Reed came third also with 39 points.
