OAKE Manor Golf Club captain Richard Goodman held his Captains Charity Day on Saturday, raising money for Children’s Hospice South West, including the evening auction of £23,500 raised, bringing the total for his Captain’s charity this year to over £40,000.

A total of 188 golfers played a Texas Scramble Competition in teams of four. The competition was very intense with some incredibly low scoring. The winning team with a score of nett 50, 20 shots under par, were Michael Bell, Matthew Gardner, Chris Hume and Robert Urman. In close second with nett 51 were Robert Cowburn, Peter Jeanes, Clive Large and Jonathon Owen while in third place also on nett 51 were James Greenhow, Nigel Jackson, Graham Salway and Roy Sully.

Paul Monday won the Sunday Stableford Competition with 38 points, Ashley Gaines came second with 37 points while Neil Hallett was third also with 37 points.

In the Seniors Stableford Competition on Monday, Colin Brown won division 1 with 39 points, Charles St George came second with 37 points while Richard Crouch was third also with 37 points. Nigel Haigh was the division 2 winner with 39 points, the top score of the day, while Alan Ashley came second with 38 points and Mark Howard was third also with 38 points.

The Ladies played a Stableford competition on Tuesday. Suzanne Ward won the day, winning division 1 with 36 points, Karen Grabham came second with 35 points while Angela Warnes was third with 33 points. Pat Snelling won division 2 scoring 31 points, Rosalind Shepherd was second with 30 points while Judy McKellar came third with 29 points.

Ian Blackwell, the former England and Somerset cricketer, won the Wednesday Midweek Stableford, scoring a superb 43 points, Richard Connell came second with 39 points while Robin Trott was third also with 39 points.
