AS GOLFERS move into the Autumn there is still a packed timetable for the Minehead and West Somerset Golf Club Ladies Section.

At home the Centenary Trophy was up for grabs which had been postponed from earlier in the year due to heatwave conditions. This was hotly contested and won by Tricia Grinter with a nett 72. Close on her tail was Lesley Davis, posting a nett 74.

This was followed by the monthly medal for August which was clinched by Ruth Ball with a nett 72, beating Jayne Fulwell by one shot.

It was also a moment to celebrate for Hilary Eden, the ladies current vice-captain, who secured a hole in one on our par 3 4th! A hole she reportedly hated!

On to the Red Cross Stableford, raising money for the afore mentioned charity and counting for handicap. This was secured by Hazel Binding (23) playing to her handicap with 36 points. Second was Karen Davies (24) with 33 points.

The final of one of the internal single matchplay knockouts was played. In blustery conditions Lesley Davis had to give three shots to Jayne Fulwell. A hard fought match played in good spirit went to the final putt on the 18th hole to make Jayne the Bronze Cup champion.

Away from Minehead the ladies played a Wessex match against Enmore. In good conditions they clinched a draw 3 ½-3 ½.

Cath Binding and Jenny Elliot (current Ladies Captain), as winners of the Dickinson and Barlow qualifiers respectively, travelled away to Saltford Golf Club for the County Handicap Championships.

Also Hazel Binding and Annette O’Hare, as winners of the Somerset 4 ball better ball qualifier at Minehead, went away to Worlebury Golf Club for the Championship to compete against other ladies that had done the same at their clubs over the summer.
