TAUNTON and Pickeridge Golf Club is again hosting a competition to raise money for the League of Friends of Musgrove Park Hospital - and the charity is appealing for golfers to come forward.
Last year the Musgrove Cup attracted 52 pairs and raised £1,800 for the charity, which provides vital equipment for Musgrove Park Hospital. The money went towards a specialist operating table to support state of the art robotic surgery at the hospital.
Clinton Rogers, president of the League of Friends, said: “We are so grateful to Taunton and Pickeridge Golf Club for once again hosting this event. It always raises a substantial amount of money for our charity, and all the money goes towards improving patient care at Musgrove.”
This year’s event will take place on Friday, September 12,, from 8am to 1.30pm. Entries close on August 29th. The fee is £25 for club members and £43 for non-members.
Clinton added: “We are really hoping as many golfers as possible come forward to support the Musgrove Cup – it’s one of the great events in our calendar and provides such great support to the charity, at a time when fund raising is getting harder.”
The event is open to both men and women. The maximum playing handicap allowance is 28 for men and 36 for ladies. The entry fee includes a one-course meal after golf, and spot prizes.
A spokesperson from Taunton and Pickeridge, said: “We are proud to have hosted the Musgrove Cup for 11 years. This Fourball Betterball mixed event has been popular in the Taunton area for many years, resulting in charitable donations being made to a hospital that serves most, if not all, of us in our lifetime.”
