DESPITE a tough past season, particularly for the first team, Watchet Town will again be fielding two senior sides next winter.
Watchet have been relegated to the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League after finishing bottom of the Premier Division.
Manager Nick Sully said this week: “It was the most difficult season since I have been involved with the club over many years.
“We have held two players’ meetings recently in the hope of getting better numbers available for the new season. We are obviously looking for new players.”
Watchet won only one of their 28 first team matches last season - and ended without any points after these were deducted.
Worle were the other side to finish in the bottom two and will join Watchet in the first division.
At the other end of the table, Nailsea United finished as champions, four points clear of second-placed Chilcompton Sports.
Watchet Town Reserves will again be playing in the second division of the Taunton Saturday League.
Meanwhile Lee Todd will be continuing as manager of Minehead who will again be playing in the first division, meaning two local derbies for the two West Somerset clubs.
Todd took over from Craig Carr as boss last October with Arron Deeks as his assistant and Lee Hardick as coach.
Minehead finished tenth last season and Todd said: “We would certainly like to finish higher next season. I have begun looking to strengthen the side and two new players have committed themselves already to the club, and a third is looking probable.”
Minehead are hoping to play six pre-season warm-up matches - five at home - with matches already arranged against Jewson League sides Street, Ilfracombe Town and Wellington.
“It is good that we are able to arrange so many of our friendlies at home,” added Todd.
