PORLOCK Ladies put up a spirited fight before losing 4-3 away to Wincanton Town in Division Two of the Somerset Women’s Football League

With hardly any warm up they jumped straight in the game but started strong. Porlock held the game for about 30 minutes with loads of offside calls given their way with a great defensive line.

Wincanton took the lead with a goal that wasn’t deserved as GK Hannah went down and still managed to get up and save the shot until Wincanton finally knocked it in the back of the net, chipping it over the top.

Kayleigh was brought down in a very hard challenge as she took off after a ball at high speed, with only a free kick given as she had to come off the field. Kez stepped up for the free kick as it dipped and just skimmed the cross bar.

Within minutes of the second half Wincanton made it 2-0 which made Porlock step up their game. Hannah S played a great through ball to Amiee where Kayleigh put in a distraction out wide, giving Amiee a shot on goal, making it 2-1. Minutes later after some great link up play Kez got on the score sheet to equalise 2-2.

Porlock now pushing for more saw within minutes an assist from Lauren where Amiee ran on to score, putting the visitors in the lead 3-2.

Unfortunately Wincanton drew level from a corner to make it 3-3. With some great left wing link up between Chris, Georgia and Kez. Georgia played an excellent ball to Kez which was denied through an unfair offside.

Hannah pulled off an unbelievable foot save to keep Porlock in the game. However, with six minutes left on the clock Wincanton played a ball over the top to score the winner.

Porlock’s Player of the match: Lauren Smith.
