MINEHEAD Reserves travelled to Bridgwater for the fourth time in two weeks to face Bridgwater and Albion in the Rowbarton Charity Cup, eventually winning 9-1.

Once again playing on their favoured 4G surface they kept to the same formation that had served them well over the past three games despite having to make several changes due to players work commitments.

A changed defensive line up of goalkeeper Nat Leader and Jack Campbell Farmer, JJ Knight, Harvey Lovell, and Fin Landon making up the back four all gave commanding performances which allowed the Minehead midfield and attack to play in the opposition's half.

For the first ten minutes play was equally shared between the two sides but then it was the Minehead midfield who started to control the game with Oli Reaney, Sam Jackson and Haiden Griffiths passing the ball around with ease. Erik Zachrisson and Janusz Jasielczuk were now able to push forward, and this proved too much for Albion and the relentless young Blues scored an amazing five goals before half time, giving their opponents an impossible task for the second half.

Minehead made two changes during the break with Olly Prescott and Louis Burge coming on with Burge slotting into an unfamiliar attacking midfield position. The second half continued in the same manner as the first with the Minehead side still very much taking the game to their opponents and it was right back Campbell Farmer who with some good overlapping runs found himself the furthest forward when crossing into the Albion box. Four more goals were added to Minehead’s tally to make it Nine before Albion scored a consolation goal with the last kick of the game.

Star of the show and man of the match was Riley Pope who scored five goals with Jack Campbell Farmer, Haiden Griffiths, Olly Prescott, and Erik Zachrisson adding the others.
