MINEHEAD women’s football team welcomed family, friends and supporters to celebrate their success on their debut in senior football with a special match against Ridgeway Ladies.
Minehead took the Division Three South division in the Somerset Women’s Football League by storm in their first ever season, emphatically going unbeaten with 100 per cent win record, scoring 126 and conceding just 7. They finished six points clear of runners-up Taunton Town who lost twice of the seasiders. This has been a season to remember for the young Blues who prioritised promoting young players who have come through their pathway, with no player over the age 18, which certainly makes for an exciting future at the club. The trophy was lifted aloft at Minehead FC fittingly on home turf concluding the 2025/26 season for The Blues. A clearly delighted manager Dan Haran said: “We have been privileged enough in all versions of this team to win silverware over the years. This one in particular is special though because it’s another step forward. It signals our intent to provide opportunities for youth, be ambitious and create an environment where our female players flourish as footballers. Dan went on: “This season for me closes a chapter in our journey in some aspects. To get this young squad through our first season in senior football after all the years building was success in itself. We now look forward to a bright future with our women’s team moving up a division, growing our youth section where we hope to have teams in Under16, Under 14 and Under 12s in Somerset Girls’ League action next season.” The manager added: “Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us this season and we look forward to welcoming you back for the next one. Up The Blues!”
