MINEHEAD and Watchet Town both return to action with home fixtures in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County Football League this Saturday, October 17, following blank Saturdays.

And both have to start winning matches if they are to move out of the relegation zone with Minehead and Watchet occupying the bottom two places.

Minehead won 2-0 away to Street Reserves in the Somerset Senior Cup a fortnight ago but have not won a league game since they beat Isle of Wedmore 1-0 on the opening day of the season while Watchet have yet to win a match, although they have played only four games.

Minehead boss Lee Todd, however, is not unduly concerned about his side’s lowly position. He said: “We’re creating chances but cannot score - it’s very frustrating. But the time to worry is when you’re not creating opportunities.

“All we need is a little more luck in front of goal. We scored a perfectly good goal at Westfield but it was disallowed when everyone saw the ball had crossed the line. That decision cost us a point.

“Our luck will change - but at the moment things are not going our way.”

Minehead are expected to be at full-strength for the visit of Imperial who are lying sixth in the table, 11 points behind the leaders Peasedown Miners Welfare with two matches in hand.

Watchet entertain Nailsea United Reserves who are third from bottom - they beat Clutton 1-0 at home last Saturday - and have now moved above Minehead.

Watchet, five points adrift at the bottom of the table, have not played since they lost 3-0 at home to Paulton Rovers Sports towards the end of last month.

“We gave a good account of ourselves and stayed in the game for a long time,” said Watchet boss Nick Sully.

Both matches kick off at 3p.m.
