MINEHEAD Under 9s enjoyed one of the most thrilling experiences of their young footballing careers to date when they were mascots for Taunton Town’s Southern League game in the Premier Division at home to Sholing FC .
This was a really great day for the team and as they got nearer to Taunton Town’s home ground at Wordsworth Drive the excitement among the youngsters was mounting. None of them knew quite what to expect!
However it was a great experience for the team as they walked out onto the pitch with the Taunton Town players, and before the kick off they were invited to do some warm up exercises.
The Minehead Under 9s then enjoyed the game which for many of them would have been the first time that they had experienced a live match at this level. Sadly Taunton Town lost the game 1-0 but despite this disappointment the Under 9s enjoyed a great day.
Minehead Under 9s would like to express their thanks to everyone at Taunton Town FC who made the day extra special, including the players who signed numerous shirts, footballs, bottles and programme! It was most definitely a memorable one,
Team coach Matt Cracknell said: “On the playing front Minehead Under 9s have started the season very well against some tough opposition. The players have adjusted very well to the seven a side format and longer matches, showing lots of energy and togetherness.”
The Minehead Under 9s are next in action when they face a difficult away trip to Ruishton who are always a strong side.
