MINEHEAD Women travelled to Crewkerne for the return fixture from the opening day victory when, although they won, knew they needed to play their best, which is what they did and ran out convinciing16-0 winners.
Donning their new pink away tops, the visitors dazzled right from the get-go; a flurry of goals saw them take a 3-0 lead.
This was quickly doubled and just before the interval Jaz produced one of her specials with a wonderfully controlled left footed shot into the top corner which concluded an emphatic first half with Minehead leading 7-0.
The second half produced a lot more of the same with goal after goal for Minehead. Emeral scored a quick-fire double, Mabel got three goals in 20 minutes, following this both Jaz and Emeral completed their hat-tricks to make it 14-0.
While Minehead were rampant up front, the tricky pitch and worsening conditions did mean the backline had to be on alert throughout. Yet again, Darcy led the line superbly alongside the rapidly improving Honey and Courtney, who again showed what a fantastic addition she’s been this season.
Behind them, keeper Maddison made some good saves throughout proceedings to keep a fourth clean sheet. As the game neared its end the heavy rain was symbolic of Minehead’s attacking play; persistent, strong, and not letting up!
The Minehead striking duo both got on the scoresheet yet again, first Emeral with bursting down the right and lashing across goal, then Mabel intricately getting her fifth of the day and 17th for the season, tying with skipper Erin on top of the league goal scoring charts.
This concluded a fine, professional team performance from Minehead who maintained their 100 per cent record at the top of Division Three South in the Somerset Women’s League . Players of the match - Emeral Haran & Courtney Wright.
