MINEHEAD will be looking to complete an eight-day double over Burnham United when the sides play each other in the Somerset County Cup at Irnham Road on Saturday, October 4 (2p.m.).
Minehead beat Burnham 5-0 at home in the first division of the Uhlsport Somerset County League last weekend, and manager Craig Carr said this week: “We have improved quite a lot in the past few weeks. We’re playing with more consistency and our attitude has been better.
“We have a more settled side and I believe we can go on improving if we can put out our best side. We had a number of players missing in August but now most of them are back. We always knew this at the time.
“My main job is to get our best players on the pitch. We’re quite capable of beating anyone when we’re at full strength.”
Minehead have called up Bertie Harvey-Lamar and Harvey Henderson who can both play in defence or midfield.
Minehead are lying eighth in the first division while Burnham are one place above them, having picked up one more point from the same number of games.
Meanwhile, Watchet Town face a tough away match against Combe St Nicholas, who are lying second in Division One of the County League, in the same competition.
Watchet lost 5-2 at home to Wells City Reserves in the Premier Division last weekend, but manager Nick Sully said: “The main thing is we were competitive against Wells. We could easily have gone 2-0 up in the first half.”
Porlock play at home to Staplegrove Reserves in the Premier Division of the Taunton Saturday League while Alcombe Rovers are home to Middlezoy Rovers Athletic in Division One.
In Division Two, Porlock Reserves are away to North Petherton Reserves, Minehead Colts visit Galmington while Watchet Town Reserves are home to Dunwear Reserves.
