MINEHEAD Youth gained a fine 5-1 home win over Tone Youth Wasps in Division Two of the Under 14 section of the HO Soccer Taunton & District Youth Football League, with Jacob leading the side.

From the opening whistle, Minehead dominated possession and set the tempo. However, they faced a well organized and resilient Tone Youth defence that proved difficult for the home side to break down.

Early scoring chances came for the home side, including a brilliantly struck free kick from Lucas that rattled the crossbar but sadly did not find the back of the net. In the remaining time, despite several close efforts, Minehead went into the half time break frustrated, and still searching for the opening goal.

The second half saw a transformed and much more ruthless Minehead side . Eight minutes after the restart, Lucas finally broke the deadlock with a composed finish to make it 1–0. Just two minutes later, the same player doubled the lead after another slick team move.

Tone Youth managed to pull one back after George produced an excellent save but was unable to prevent the rebound from being tucked away making the score 2–1 - and the game was back on.

However, Minehead responded immediately, with Lucas completing his hat-trick to restore the two-goal cushion and crush any hopes of a Tone fightback.

The home side continued to press, and Zach added a spectacular long-range strike into the top corner to make it 4–1.

Minehead’s confidence was flowing, and Mason rounded off the scoring with a superb effort from outside the box to seal an emphatic victory.

Tone Youth battled bravely, but Minehead’s attacking quality and solid defence proved too strong.
