MINEHEAD Reserves were involved in a goalless home draw against North Petherton in the Premier Division of the Centregreat Taunton & District Saturday Football League.

Minehead went into the game against Petherton, some places ahead of them in the table, determined to cut out the unnecessary mistakes they have been making most of the season.

Robert Vickers and Mike Graddon formed an experienced and formidable duo at centre back and arguably either could have been made man of the match. They were joined by Cullen Bruford and Oli Jones in defence in front of Tomasz Kubaczewski in goal who had his best game of the season to date and following two outstanding first half goals was made man of the match.

Torren Eldridge worked hard as usual in front of the back four leaving Sam Jackson, Dan Vickers and Oli Reaney to bring about the more attacking aspects of midfield play. Riley Pope and Haiden Griffiths worked hard up front and the half finished 0-0 which was probably about right.

The second half saw more in the Minehead half with the visitors always looking good from set pieces. Scott Kivell came on for Griffiths, Josh Bruford for brother Cullen and Fin Haran for Reaney which kept the momentum going. The second half was more difficult with the strong wind and bumpy pitch and Minehead will see it as a good point gained against a team whose own point took them equal top. Man of the match: Tomasz Kubaczewski

Minehead Reserves: Tomasz Kubaczewski, Oli Jones, Robert Vickers, Mike Graddon, Cullen Bruford, Torren Eldridge, Dan Vickers, Sam Jackson, Oli Reaney, Haiden Griffiths, Riley Pope. Substitutes: Scott Kivell, Josh Bruford, Fin Haran (all used).

Minehead, who earned only their fourth point of the season, play Taunton Town U23s in the Rowbarton Charity Cup at Bridgwater on Monday (7.30).
