MINEHEAD Falcons gained a stunning 12-1 win over Bishops Lydeard in the final of the Taunton Youth Football League’s Under 12 Chairman’s Cup at Corkscrew Lane, Taunton.

Minehead took the lead in the tenth minute when a sweeping pass from George Gardner put Frankie Cox through down the right wing, from which he used his skills and trickery to beat two players and dispatch a cracking, curling shot into the top corner of the Lydeard goal.

Minehead grew in confidence and dominated possession. Frankie Cox soon picked up his second goal through a Barney Langdon smart assist, making the score 2-0 to Minehead.

Minehead kept a solid, organised formation which was well marshalled by keeper Jack Lomax and Oscar Cox. As the first half continued Minehead went further ahead through neatly taken left footed finish by Barney Langdon.

Then after 25 minutes a cracking run and finish from Seb Matcham put Minehead 4 up. Just before half time Lydeard gave themselves some belief as they managed to get one back, making the half time score 4-1.

The second half saw Minehead continue to dominate and this resulted in a hattrick from the extremely dominant Olly Hill, one being a thunderbolt from over 20 yards out. Another two goals from man of the match Frankie Cox took his tally to a fabulous four.

Then a sweeping passing move from the defence to the front line led to a great cross from Roman Davis and a well taken strike from Arthur Hill.

At this point Minehead were very much on top and didn't want to let up, especially after remembering the tricky semi final game they had recently experienced. Their continued endeavors and commitment gave them further rewards with Seb Matcham grabbing his well taken second, as well a couple of cracking long-range shots from defenders Oscar Cox and Harry Parfitt.
